Missouri House of Representatives- Members of the House Interim Committee on
Disaster Recovery met to discuss ways to help those affected by natural
disasters over the past couple of months.
Mr. Davis,
I wanted you to have this photo. My family and
I took a direct hit from the tornado and were very fortunate to live. The house
exploded around us as we were lying on the floor in the hall way. The
experience still haunts us daily. After a few days we went back to the house to
look for personal items and I was amazed to see you at our home digging through
the rubble looking for items that we could salvage. To think a state
representative would do that for us was unbelievable. When I asked you why you
were there, you told me that you just felt led to that house to help. My 17
year old son could not believe his eyes when I told him you were our state
representative. When I asked if I could take a photo with you I could tell that
you were very uncomfortable with it as you explained that you were not there
for a photo op, just there to do what you could to help. I demanded (nicely)
that you take this photo for us as a keep sake to remind us that our
representatives do care about the people. You made a huge impact on our family
that day and we will never forget that moment. You gave us hope. I wanted to
share the photo with you and say thank you again for being there for us.
Sincerely, Fred Warden
